I'm very happy to announce the collector profile of Giulio Torlai, a medical doctor and Tolkien collector, who collects unique and rare Tolkien books. He considers himself an uncommon Tolkien collector, since he never focused on particular editions. Especially rare special Italian rebindings of Tolkien books are at the hearth of his collection.

In December, with the release of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Peter Jackson finishes his The Hobbit trilogy. For some time now fans wonder if there isn't one more work of Tolkien that Peter Jackson could adapt to big screen. The Silmarillion, preceding both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, is the project many desire to see adapted to film. But will it happen?

Why should there be any question about whether or not it is right to produce visual images inspired by the writings of Tolkien? Well, the short answer is that J. R. R. Tolkien himself said that he did not want his books to be illustrated - but at the same time, he allowed several of them to be published with illustrations, by himself and by other people.

A trailer for Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released last Tuesday, a year ahead of the film's release. For some the big wait has now officialy begun. It was a bumpy ride so far, but it seems it is now finally going to happen!

A first edition copy of J.R.R. tolkien's The Hobbit was sold at Sotheby's auction house in London for 137,000 Sterling Pounds. This more than doubled the world record and makes this copy of The Hobbit the most expensive in the world.

D.G. Pashte of Pune-based Diamond Publications and his son Nilesh set out to secure the copyright for translating The Hobbit into Marathi six months ago. Today, the translated version is ready for a formal launch, making it the first one in any Indian language.

Back in 1986 the only brick-and-mortar shop in the world entirely dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien was founded in Leiden, Holland. While we get set for the onslaught of The Hobbit movies it is time to celebrate the 25th anniversary with a nice Tolkien festival in the shop in Leiden.
