I'm very happy to announce the collector profile of Giulio Torlai, a medical doctor and Tolkien collector, who collects unique and rare Tolkien books. He considers himself an uncommon Tolkien collector, since he never focused on particular editions. Especially rare special Italian rebindings of Tolkien books are at the hearth of his collection.

It is an indisputable fact that despite the today's increase in the children's books with urban fantasies, the tolkien's fantasy books still hold the number one position in children's reading lists.

It is my great pleasure to announce that the new Lembas Extra, the annual magazine of the Dutch Tolkien Society Unquendor, has been released. Once again it is packed with essays on Tolkien and Middle-earth, all written in English so that all Tolkien fans across the globe can enjoy the articles. The theme of this Lembas Extra is Tolkien in Poetry and Song. There are several essays about Tolkien poetry, like Mythopoeia and The Song of Durin, but there is also tolkien-inspired poetry from Dutch and foreign authors.

Peter Jackson has hinted that production for The Hobbit will be delayed from the original estimate of March 2010 to the middle of 2010. Speaking to German site Movie Reporter, the producer stated the production will be started after scripts for the two films are complete. Following Jacksons statement, there has been a speculation that the release dates for The Hobbit and The Hobbit 2 will also be pushed back.

The Lord of the Rings fan movie The Hunt For Gollum has now been seen by over 4 million people from all over the world. While it was only made on a very tiny budget of GBP 3000 and freely distributed through the internet it has proven to be an enormous hit. The 40 minute film, directed by the unknown Chris Bouchard, depects events leading up to the Peter Jackson trilogy, giving the Middle-earth fans some fresh material while waiting for The Hobbit movies.

HarperCollins have officially announced the world first publication of a previously unknown work of fantasy by J.R.R. Tolkien, which tells the powerful story of a doomed young man who is sold into slavery and who swears revenge on the magician who killed his father.

It is expected that in one of the following weeks the latest book by Walking Tree Publishers, Music in Middle-earth, will be released. Simultaniasly a German version will be published by Verlag der Villa Fledermaus, Musik in Mittelerde. The editors are Friedhelm Schneidewind and Heidi Steimel. Both copies will hold the same essays, which are written by authors like Bradford Lee Eden and Fabian Geier.

Parma Eldalamberon, The Book of Elven-tongues, is a journal of the Elvish Linguistic Fellowship, a special interest group of the Mythopoeic Society. They have just announced the release of issue 18, which presents previously unpublished writings by J. R. R. Tolkien concerning his Elvish languages and early versions of his invented scripts. These have been edited and annotated by Christopher Gilson, Arden R. Smith and Patrick H. Wynne, under the guidance of Christopher Tolkien and with the permission of the Tolkien Estate.

In only a few weeks time a very special meeting will take place at the beautiful medieval castle of Rieneck in Northern Bavaria. The annual convention of the German Tolkien Society, the Tolkien Thing (i.e. moot), will get together not only friends and guests from all over the continent but also one special guest we are very happy to have with us: Tom Shippey.
