2012 clearly was a year devoted to The Hobbit, no surprise since the first part of the movie adaptation by Peter Jackson was released. So books with all Hobbit related topics flooded the market, new cover designs appeared and movie tie-ins were put in the market.

To celebrate The Hobbit's 75th anniversary of publication, a pocket-sized hardback of J.R.R. tolkien's timeless classic was released. I guess this will be the best selling edition for all people who want to have a copy of The Hobbit closeby or which to read the book well before the release of The Hobbit movies. Read article

This edition will be released as a tie-in with the Hobbit movies, soon to be released on the big screen. I'm however happy to see the publishers decided to make a two and not a three volume edition. HarperCollins Releases Hobbit Movie Cover Edition
A decade ago the traditional artistic covers of the Lord of the Rings were ditched and replaced with screenshots and new concept designs from the movie trilogy. So it comes as no surprise to learn that HarperCollins, the publisher of tolkien's works, is releasing a movie tie in edition of The Hobbit to coincide with Peter Jackson's latest take on one of his books. It is always exciting to see what the next Tolkien calendar will be like. As we now the last two years the calendar featured the art by Cor Blok. This year the official Tolkien calendar will be containing new and classic artwork for The Hobbit by Oscar-winning artists Alan Lee and John Howe. Read article
